2023 is over.
2024 has begun, and seven days have gone by already.
At last, all the excitement seems to have mellowed down. Thank God!
I get it.
I understand why everyone is excited about the year ending and the beginning of a new year. Because most days, that's what we all desperately hope for—a new beginning. What better time for it than when the whole world pauses and returns with renewed hopes and wishes?
I dread coming online during such days. Even the offline circumstances are similar. There's no escaping the collective chaotic energy during such days, as it's always staring in your face.
At first, there's intense reflection going on about how the year turned out, the lessons learned, the tasks accomplished, and so on. Following that, there's excessive enthusiasm and anticipation regarding how the upcoming new year ought to unfold.
Just imagine the incredible amount of pressure—from 8 billion people—2024 must have felt to be an exceptionally wonderful year even before it began.
Good luck, 2024. I hope you exceed everyone’s expectations.
The only way one can avoid the chaos is by going into hibernation, specifically in the midst of forests with birds chirping, trees swaying, or a gorgeous, breathtaking sunset. Add a lake or river stream nearby, and you get the experience of heaven right here on Earth. This feeling is so freely available that you don't even have to encounter death.
I am not necessarily trying to make any point here or preach about how everyone should behave during these times. I am just someone with too many thoughts and opinions. And sometimes, a rebel without a cause.
Nevertheless, I do want to point out that one doesn't have to wait for either the year to end or the new year to begin again in life.
New beginnings await us right around the corner if we bother to look within. You can begin again at any given moment. It is possible that in the midst of your workday, commuting, listening to your favorite song, or watching a movie or show, an epiphany of sorts might occur that delivers to you your new beginning.
A breakdown leading to a breakthrough.
Quote of the day:
I write only because there is a voice within me that will not be still.
— Sylvia Plath
Happy to be back!
